Devi

Devi

Tum pujaniya ho,
Tum durga ho,
Tum kali, laxmi, saraswati ho
Isliye jo hota hai use chupchap dekho, saho lekin
Koi sawal mat karo, koi shikayat mat karo kyonki
Tum Devi ho
Insaan nahi ho.
Tum kaam karna chahti ho karo
Aage badhna chahti ho badho,
Lekin bacchon ko palna bhi tumhari zimmedari hai
Ghar sambhalna bhi tumhari zimmedari hai,
Hum purush hain thak jaate hain, tumhein thakne ka koi adhikaar nahi kyonki
Tum Devi ho
Insaan nahi ho

Freedom

Love which refuses to leave your heart
Which clings to your soul with its pointed claws
Which sucks your hopes like a parasite sucks blood
You try to remove it tightens its grip
You try harder but it hurts, it hurts a lot
So you give up
I wait for the moment when this
Love will leave my heart
That day I will be free
That day I will be the
Owner of ME again!

I will be there for you :)

I will be there when you are sad
I will be there when no one else is
I will be there when you are angry
I will be there when your friends have left you
I will believe you when you have lost faith in yourself
I will be there for you even when you have left me.

Khidki kholo zara hawa hi lage

One thing I love about Bangalore is the lovely weather in the evenings.Today I opened a window of my room which has been closed since time immemorial due to fear of bats ,mosquitoes etc etc,and suddenly I feel I am in Dehradun. The smell of rain on the leaves , there is a huge tree right outside and its leaves sway in the cool breeze reminding me of a trip to some hill station.
It feels like I have let mother nature inside my room and it feels good just like the feeling you will get in a mother's lap.

Desh ki Samasya aur chutti ka din

Scene 1: Setting a housing colony in Bangalore in the evening

Mr. Sharma: Again a power cut, the government is useless, full of corrupt people who only know how to take bribes.
Mr. Iyer: I fully agree with you Sharmaji, our country is going down the drains. We
should learn something from the world. Last year I went to meet my son staying in Canada, Oh! My god what clean roads, 24 hr water supply, pollution free air.

Scene 2: Mr. Sharma’s house

Mrs. Sharma: Aji suniye Mr. Iyer ka phone hai pooch rahe hain election wale din chutti hai kahin ghoomne jaane ka plan hai? You know a short one day
trip.

Mr. Sharma: Haan chalte hain waise bhi aisa mauka baar baar kahan milta hai.

I am a Criminal!

Being fat is a crime and trust me whatever good qualities, qualifications you have cannot compensate for this guilt.
People who are murderers, robbers, rapists can hope to get love in their life but a fat person stands no chance .We are just burdens on our family ,on the society, I sometimes wonder why the society allows us to live. I think there must be a monthly weight check-up for everybody and anybody found overweight should be terminated, will save the poor souls a lot of humiliation and disappointments which they suffer throughout their life and the society will be spared the torture of having to look at unsightly, ugly people.
After all the entire world belongs to the thin and the beautiful. So make way fatso owners of the world are arriving.

Truth

It's no good trying to get rid of your own aloneness. You've got to stick to it all your life. Only at times, at times, the gap will be filled in. At times! But you have to wait for the times. Accept your own aloneness and stick to it, all your life. And then accept the times when the gap is filled in, when they come. But they've got to come. You can't force them.

...From Lady Chatterley's Lover

And the book is a must read for people who are not puritans and can appreciate something written from the heart.

No hung parliament please!

With the election season in full swing I just have one hope that the people
of this nation are able to arrive at some sort of decision.Nothing can be worse for a
country still plagued with diferences of region, religion, caste, creed etc etc than a government
formed with the help of regional parties who lend and withdraw their support in return of a seat in the cabinet.
So no third front for me .

A nation of hypocrites

Beaten to death by teachers,
Sold to work in brothels,
Forced to work in hotels,
Raped, tortured, used, abused
And we still claim children are the future of the nation.

Stories and Stones

This is where the royal danseuse must have enthralled the entire court,
This is where the King must have met and discussed matters of great importance,
This is where the queen must have walked in the evenings accompanied by her maids.
Stones do tell a story,
All you need to do is lend them a patient ear and a little imagination,
Listen to them carefully they are capable of transporting you to a different era all together,
Look at the flag perched on the top of the temple dome, doesn’t it say I have been here for centuries.
Sit down in the courtyard for a moment; u can imagine people who must have roamed them dressed in all their colorful finery in the times of kings,
Stones do tell a story,
Listen to them.

What is reality?

I don’t know what is more real the joy of being together for some time or the pain of saying goodbye each time. I don’t even know whether I am greedy or crazy or whether all the people in love feel like this.
One thing I know for sure is that the feeling of wanting to be together for life and the fear of living a life without him are very real.

The Love Instrument

Although the title sounds cheesy the subject is quite serious.
I have come up with my own test of how to figure out whether u still love a person or not
1. You think about this person?
2. Do you feel happy when that person is around?
3. Do you try to devise ingenious ways to be with that person?
4. While usually you are filthy like a pig, you dress up when you are going to see this person?
5. The presence of an entity of the opposite sex even within a one mile radius of this person is enough to turn into a blood thirsty murderer?
6. Do you feel happy when this person is around and your roommates are not around?

Answer these questions choosing any of the following 4 options
All the times
Sometimes
Rarely
Never

Now how u score it like this
All the times – 5
Sometimes – 3
Rarely – 1

Never – 0

Add up your scores and if they are above 15..you know what to do lage raho munnabhai/ munnibehen
Well this instrument needs to be validated on a few more subjects and after that it can be added to the annals of great research in OB
This is my tribute to OB...Hope they start using it in B-Schools soon.
I am also thinking of putting the results in some kind of a 2*2 Matrix framework ...so that it becomes a fultoo OB class type material.

Play Time after a Long Time

After cribbing to everyone about how bored I am in this city and how I would have preferred to go to Delhi or Mumbai or JhumriTalliaya, finally did something interesting on the weekend.
Went to see a play after a long time. It was called Butter and Mashed Banana on freedom of speech, what was more interesting than the concept was the way the actors handled the subject and enacted it on stage .There were no props apart from a plastic tub and a white bed sheet.
Brilliant acting and some interesting music...and yes a full house.
Well! I am looking forward to many more such weekends till I am in Bangalore and yes may I take this opportunity to thank a very dear friend ....Thanks buddy for making my life interesting :)
Anybody who is able to understand why they have named the play so, please let me know, your gyan sharing will be suitably rewarded.

Something is wrong with me

I am bored of shopping; eating out ...probably should go and see a psychiatrist.
Well at least my Bank account and my Dad are happy for the time being.

An ideal world

A world where there are no production and finance classes
A world where there are no deadlines to meet,no quizzes to crack,
A world where there is enough time to sit back and think,
A world where there are no hidden motives,no unfulfilled desires,
A world where the present is neither haunted by the memories of the past nor burdened with the worries about the future,
Yes that would be an ideal world.

Please Bear With Me :)

Please Bear with me "

Missing home

There are days when you wake up and wish to see a tender smile,
There are days when you want a warm hug,
There are days when you want to hold a hand,
There are days when you want to lean on a shoulder and say nothing,
There are days when you wish to be at home.

Why Women love chocolates more than men?

They are always there for you, no questions asked ,no complaints about being busy with office work
They never tell you that you are clingy and need to be more emotionally stable.
They don’t try to flirt with your friends and go lusting after every pretty face they see.
They always make you happy; I have never seen a woman sad because she had chocolates.
You can lick them and actually feel nice about it.
You can always have one irrespective of your weight, height, length, breadth etc etc.

Happy Valentine’s Day!

This story is a story of the Valentine’s Day...so keep reading. The day on which you are supposed to receive cute teddies, red roses, diamonds and whatever the marketers of the 21st century are able to push through the media down the unsuspecting consumers’ throats. If I sound cynical here, it’s not my fault it is only human to detest and criticize things which you don’t have.

So being fully faltoo with no classes for 5 days, I went out for lunch (The food at XLRI mess sucks!) to Novelty. As to why Novelty that is the only place people without jobs and loans worth lakhs on their heads can afford to go to. I went there and ordered food which obviously takes a lot of time to come. Being alone heightens your sense of observation, so I started looking around expecting to see a lot of college goers, young couples going all lovey-dovey, after all love is supposed to be in the air on 14th February. But I was surprised to see people in their 40s probably married for a decade or so; spending time together away from the killing responsibilities of a domestic life.

The sight was heartening, felt good to see that love is not the sole prerogative of teenagers and people who look like they are straight out of a Yash Raj Productions movie. It is reassuring to see that marriage is not all about in-laws, kids and bills.

Some people say that if you love a person it is not important to express it but then not everyone is not good at reading minds. Taking your relationships for granted is the worst damage you can do to them and a little show of love and care doesn’t hurt. Heard a beautiful song couple of days back courtesy a good friend who always says “Listen to this you will like it “, and most of the times I do J

Buy me a rose, call me from work
Open a door for me, what would it hurt
Show me you love by the look in your eyes
These are the little things , I need the most in my life.

Human Misery is too great for men to do without faith

Faith a five lettered word which probably evokes innumerable responses in people. The dictionary defines faith as “a belief that is not based on proof.”

For some it is an act of mental destruction accepting something which has no evidence is irrational. For some it is the very basis of their existence.

Goswami Tulsidasji has written in his epic work RamcharitManas:"Parvati Shankarau Vande, Shraddha Viswas Rupinau"
Meaning, “Lord Shankar is (the symbol of) trust and Goddess Bhavani is (the symbol of) faith. The realisation of God is possible only by the worship of both (trust and faith).”

Anyways we are not here to discuss the attainment of God through faith or other superhuman connotations attributed to the word.

Faith is something which lets you sleep peacefully in the night. It can be faith in yourself, your friends, and your loved ones and yes faith in the almighty. It is the belief that when you wake up the next morning these people will still be there for you .It is the belief that even if something has gone wrong, the future still holds promises.
Faith is what keeps you going when everything and everyone else has deserted you. Faith is what makes a family of slum dwellers living in the suburbs of Mumbai smile, laugh, and celebrate festivals.

When a couple decides to bring a child in this world full of hate, misery, wars and discrimination, it is faith in the basic goodness of humans which gives them courage to take this decision.
The world tests you at every step in your life and if you lose faith, you lose the will to survive. To conclude
Miracles are not contradictions of nature. They are only in contradiction of what we know of nature.
- St. Augustine

An ode to the mighty oceans

Came across some interesting lines about the sea in The Economist .…..
Roll on, thou deep and dark blue Ocean –roll!
Ten thousand fleets sweep over thee in vain;
Man marks the earth with ruin – his control
Stops with the shore
Byron
I tell you naught for your comfort,
Yea naught for your desire,
Save that the sky grows darker yet
And the sea rises higher.
G.K. Chesterton

Sad were my thoughts that anchor’d silently
On the dead waters of that passionless sea
Unstirr’d by any touch of living breath:
Silence hung over it, and drowsy Death,
Like a gorged seabird, slept with folded wings
On crowded carcasses – sad passive things

Autumn is coming but do the flowers regret it?

We have spread cheer

We have made the child who gave a flower to his teacher happy,

We warmed the heart of a girl whose lover gifted her a rose,

True ,that in a couple of days we will die,

Our petals will fall on the ground ,

The stem will wilt away.

But we have no regrets we have lived

a beautiful life

a meaningful life :)

Tug-of-War

Human mind is a battle field
A constant tussle goes on between emotions and logic
Both sides try to outdo each other
One says I am right, the other says I am
Both give reasons equally valid
Whose side should I take?
Which one of them is right I know not!
I am confused, it’s complex like a spiders’ web
And the harder I try to come out of it the deeper I keep going inside the mesh.
Whether I’ll come out of it alive or dead like a poor fly
Only time will tell.

Banda Yeh Bindaas hai!

This is one of my favourite songs these days. There is a line which goes like this " Kya bura hai aur kya kharab hai ,sirf jeene ka hisaab hai" and how true. There is nothing which is absolutely right or wrong ,it all depends on your perceptions and interpretations. But often we tend to judge people based on our views ,our way of living ,our moral standards. What we forget that there is no one way of laughing, crying ,eating, wearing clothes and most importantly living. And in this process of judging others we lose sight of their real self ,our real self and end up living our lives according to somebody else's view of us ,of the world.

So live your life as you want because " na kuch bura hai aur na kuch kharab hai."

Why blogging

When you are away from people with whom you could actually talk,a no holds barred kind of conversation ,then suddenly this urge to write increase.Probably human mind cannot afford to keep the innumerable thoughts we come across everyday else we all will be driven to insanity.
This feeling of wanting to share your thoughts or rather throw them out of your system is my reason behind starting this blog.

The Side effects of being considered rational

Sometimes it feels good to be stupid, behaving like a child. But when you are considered as a rational person, people believe that you will act rationally ,think rationally even when you are a emotional wreck. You have to be calm, composed, quiet when all you want to do is cry, shout and break a few skulls. It is dehumanizing at its best.I guess it is like putting someone on a pedestal to worship but alas! Gods don't have the luxuries of being human.
